I'm Jem, a photographer and videographer based in Adelaide. Eight years shooting, most of it in venues.

I shoot hospitality. Food, drinks, and the details that make a place look like itself. Stills and video come out of the same session, so a venue gets both off one visit instead of booking two people twice. Alongside client work I run photography workshops with Sony.

I work with agencies and with venues directly, which means fitting into someone else's brief or building the whole thing from scratch depending on the job.

I chase light before anything else. When the room isn't giving me anything I'll shape it myself, natural light through to off camera flash. Past that I'm after the real moments, the pass at full tilt, a table two hours in, the plate as it actually leaves the kitchen. A dark wine bar and a bright coastal cafe shouldn't be shot the same way, so I build the look around the venue rather than running everything through the same style.
